ShishuTots

"ShishuTots brings the essence of Shishukunj to our youngest children, from the age of 2 and 1/2...
all-round development, promoting Gujarati culture, and anchored in positive family values"

ShishuTots is a parent-toddler session, embodying the core essence of Shishukunj into a short weekly 90 minute session aimed at this younger age group.

Every week the session starts with a welcome song and short prayer (prarthna). Thereafter there is a Baal Geet session, an Arts & Crafts session, an Activity session and finally to end a story and some snacks. The activity is different every week.. we choose from yoga, music, cooking, dance, games, gardening, the list is endless.

You're probably thinking that's a lot to cover in 90 minutes! The children love it, with a range of familiar and less familiar activities, but all aimed at providing a holistic range of development and with the subtle promotion of Gujarati and Indian culture. As always, learning through fun is at the heart of these sessions and all Shishukunj activities.

Children are eligible for ShishuTots if they have joined the Shishukunj registration list (link) and are between the ages of 2.5 and 5 years. Enrolment is on a termly basis, on a first come first served basis . Please look out for an enrolment invitation email each term when your child is the correct age. To clarify this enrolment is separate and unrelated to Shishukunj Kendra enrolment.

ShishuTots is delivered by a small core team of volunteer parents. As ShishuTots is a parent led activity all those who enrol and sign up to ShishuTots need to ensure they are committed to being available for one week of the term to help support the core team in running of the sessions. This will mean for one week of the term both parents (or parent and guardian) will need to attend the session - one to support your child(ren) in the session and one to support the running of the sessions.

If you are successful in getting a place then we will be in touch to confirm how/when you be required to support the running of the session.

Parent Involvement

Please note ShishuTots is a parent led activity.  Every baalak needs to be accompanied by ONLY ONE parent/guardian every week.

For one week of the term BOTH parents (or guardian) will need to attend the session - one to support your baalak/o in the session and one to support the running of the sessions. For this session you will need to be available to attend from 8.45am - 11:30am to support set-up and clear up.

The support required will be either for ECA or Arts & Craft activity. Additionally all parents are requested to support the varta and nasto rota.

PLEASE NOTE

Participation in ShishuTots does not fast-track or guarantee a place at any Shishukunj Kendra (centre).  Each Kendra has a waiting list and membership is offered in strict order of when the registration form was received.

If you have any questions regarding the above, please email shishutots@shishukunj.org.uk.
