Bhajan & Bhojan evening to raise awareness about the Shishukunj Vidyalaya school in Banglore. This is great opportunity to hear first hand how money that is collected in the UK supports children in other countries.

BHARATIYA GRAMEEN MAHILA SANGH is a non-political, non-sectarian all India Social Welfare Organization, founded in 1955. The Karnataka State Branch was founded in 1960 by Late Padmabhusan Smt. Yashodara Dasappa and Late Smt. C. Sharada with a group of eminent social workers.
Shishukunj and well-wishers from London got involved in the project in the year 2003.
The evening classes covering all subjects in classes I to X were started in 2006 and continued through 2007-2008 in English.
It was a mammoth task to start an English medium school with the children who could hardly speak English. Lot of friends from London came to share their time and teach English to these children.
First phase of construction of eight class rooms was finished in April 2008. Hence an English medium school SHISHUKUNJ VIDYALAYA started in June 2008.
Education became the main focus. In the year 2011 second phase of the school was finished with 6 more class rooms.
Shishukunj Vidyalaya has a 100 percent pass rate. Over 60 children have passed their 10th standard and moved on for further studies. 11 children are finishing 2nd year of University pursuing Accountancy, Engineering, Architecture.
Shishukunj weekend activities includes study circle, Vocal, Harmonium, Dance, Games, French and Computer classes. Many of our children have reached state level competition in sports and games.
There has been a significant and steady development in the surroundings since 2003. Big Library, Computer Rooms, two big lawns, rose garden, Jurassic Park, Indoor sports hall, sports ground, Two new cottages, outside cooking facility together with goober gas plant.
Till today around 250 members from London have visited and worked with Shishukunj Bangalore who has given their valuable time to make a difference in the lives of our children.
