About Us
Who are we?
Shishukunj is a registered charity (No. 284206) established in August 1976. 'Shishukunj' (a Sanskrit word meaning a "Garden of Children") is an Institute dedicated to the welfare and cultural development of children. It is run entirely by volunteers for the benefit of the children.
Shishukunj caters primarily for children aged 6-14 years old. Our aim is to provide an environment rich in positive values, which will allow the hidden potential within each child to flourish. Shishukunj aims for holistic development of the child - encompassing physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social development. Our activities are diverse and varied, to meet these needs.
The Shishukunj environment aims to create a family atmosphere, which can provide a warm and homely support network for all. Shishukunj is unique in that its activities are run by teenagers and young adults, who develop a special bond with the children and act as role models for their development. All the youngsters who run our activities have grown up through Shishukunj, and understand the essence of our philosophy.
